Good Grey

I was at a meeting the other weekend...yes, I was working on the weekend. I am slowly trying to phase that out of my work life, but back to the post. At this meeting a person made a comment that resonated so loudly with me, they were speaking about "good grey." Of course I quickly took note and couldn't wait to post something about it.

From that inspirational talk, I came to the conclusion that when thinking of Good Grey, you can look at it as the fuzzy you see in life that you turn into a beautiful reality. As I try to visualize the Good Grey, I think about those moments back in the day when I was changing the television in the middle of the night after my favorite late night show goes off and you pass a channel the television can't get (No, we didn't always have cable)  and your eyes get stuck on the fuzzy grey as you drift to sleep. Drifting off to the sound of grey in the middle of the day can help us refocus so take time out to hear and see the grey. Paint that beautiful reality you always wanted by using the grey to your advantage and define it. Let the grey be whatever you want, it's not black or white. Live in color, just pick one every day and make sure it's vibrant!

I have made up my own ways to make the grey good that I think I'm going to try in my personal and professional life.

Ways to make the grey good:
  1. Try to define the grey (eliminate the black and out)
  2. Is the grey what you want it to be? if not, change it
  3. Make the grey good, define it in a way that works for you
  4. Next reimagine and visualize the grey (think about what that grey looks like)
  5. Now, See the grey in your situation
Professional Tip:
Some times our brain gets fuzzy at work and we tend to wander off into a dream or other places. On Psych Central they have an article posted about helping professionals refocus their minds at work but these same principles can be applied outside of work. In the article, they reference six actions that can help you refocus.
  1. Practice meditation in the morning
  2. Focus on your breath at any time
  3. Focus on your feet (aka go for a walk and focus on the movement and senses)
  4. Take meditative breaks
  5. Surround yourself with pleasant visuals
  6. Know when you're least focused

Let me know how you refocus and think positive to yield your desired results.
